At Life Choice Hospice, the end of life is recognized as a natural part of life. When curing is no longer the goal during the final phase of life, the focus shifts instead to caring for the person. Our Certified Nursing Assistant’s concentrate on making the dying person comfortable, improving their quality of life, and providing opportunities for the person to meet his or her final life goals. Life Choice Hospice CNA’s demonstrate professional, empathetic, and responsive communication that facilitates hope and exhibits a non-judgmental attitude in the care of our patients and their families.

In addition to an extensive orientation, Life Choice Hospice provides on-going education, recognition and support to provide our staff with the knowledge necessary to meet the challenges of their job.

The responsibilities of our Certified Nursing Assistant’s  include:

  • Keeping  the residents area clean, neat and safe.
  • Performing tasks associated with activities of daily living such as giving showers or baths, assisting with skin care and personal hygiene, serving meals, and assisting with ambulation.
  • Reading to the patient or helping  them write a letter or maintain a journal
  • Providing Comfort Touch or sensatory stimulation
  • Being silently present
  • Taking the resident for a walk or to an activity
  • Observing and respecting the wishes of the resident, the family and the staff
  • Playing music
  • Reminiscing, listening, reassuring, comforting
